Mt. Hanuman Tibba Expedition Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Manali

Altitude: 2,050 m(6,725 ft)

We start our Hanuman Tibba expedition from Manali. This day is not too eventful, except for receiving permits and acclimatizing.

We will spend the night in a hotel and get acquainted with the team of trekkers and our trekking guides.

Be sure to get a good night’s rest!

Day 2Manali to Dhundi(via Solang Valley) to Bakkar Thatch

  • Distance: 20 Km(Drive)
  • Time Taken: 5-6 Hours
  • Altitude: 3,300 m(10,830 ft)

The second day starts very early, as we drive to Dhundi from Manali via Solang valley. From here on, it’s a steady incline along the true left of the Beas River.

After a few kilometers, we will cross a wooden bridge without railings! Anyone who fears water might get squeamish around this time, but you have your trekking buddies to help you.

After crossing the bridge, we will be on the right side of the gushing Beas. As we get closer and closer to our camp, the main river will start splitting into smaller tributaries, offering you a rich natural landscape!

We reach Bakker Thatch by noon. After having lunch, we will start setting up camp.

Day 3Bakker Thatch to Base Camp via Beas Kund Glacier

  • Distance:
  • Time Taken: 4-5 Hours
  • Altitude: 3,900 m(12,800 ft)

On the third day, we will ascend toward a moraine field spread across 300 m.

The climb is steep but, fortunately, only for a short time. Soon, we will arrive at a vast flatland consisting of boulders, small streams, and hanging glaciers.

The landscape is unique and probably nothing like you have ever experienced!

We will set up our camp farther away from the Beas Kund, at the base of the Tentu Pass.

Day 4 Rest day base camp

Today we will rest and acclimatize properly. We will check and distribute the technical gear, crampon fitting, and a general meeting on how we’ll proceed over the coming days.

Day 5Base Camp to Advanced Camp (4000 M) and back to Base Camp

Today we will load ferry to the Advanced Base Camp that is just below the Tentu Pass and the other team members will do ice climbing practice on the glacier. We will return to Base camp and spend the night here.

Today we move to Advanced Base Camp. Overnight in tents.

Day 7Advanced Camp to Camp 1 (4800 M)

Today we will be walking up a steep slope of hardened snow and arrive at camp 1, which is half way up the mountain side in time to have our packed lunch. We will be camping on snow from now onwards. we climb to the top of Tentu Pass which is very steep and arduous. We will have to fix ropes if and when needed. The top of the pass provides amazing views of the ranges flanking from all sides.

Today’s trek is a long and tough one over a continuous glacier navigating crevasses. We will setup camp at Summit camp and prepare for the next days summit attempt.

Day 9Summit Attempt (5932 M) and back to Camp 1

Post-midnight after a hot cup of tea we will attempt for the summit. The summit gives you panoramic views of the peaks of Dhauladar, Pir Panjal and Greater Himalayan Ranges. Following the summit attempt, we will descent our way down to camp 1.
