Panpatia Col Trek in the Himalayas is an adventure that will leave you in awe of nature’s majesty. This trek is a challenging expedition that traverses through the shortest route that connects Badrinath and Kedarnath. It stands tall at an elevation of 5,260 m (17,257 ft) and is one of the least traversed routes by trekkers. The trek route is only about 60 kilometers long, but the journey is packed with unique experiences and breathtaking views!
The trek starts with a drive from Haridwar to Joshimath, followed by another drive on the second day. The trek route is at times tedious as it takes you through a 7-kilometer stretch of Panpatia snowfield. However, the view from the snowfield boasts some unparalleled scenery of various prominent Himalayan peaks such as Nilkantha, Balakun, Hathi Parvat, and Dhauliganga.
As you trek, you will walk through narrow mountain ridges and moraine trails. You will tread on the vast glacial terrain, which offers stunning views that will be etched in your memory forever. The campsites are located in tapered valleys where you fall asleep under the shimmering stars that adorn the Himalayan sky. On this trek, you walk through Parvati Gully and camp beside a small lake, which is yet another unique experience. In the end, you walk through lush green forests on the final stretch of the trek.
The trek is a perfect fit for adventure enthusiasts who are ready for the challenge that it poses. It offers the ultimate experience of the Himalayan mountain range. The journey takes you past some of the highest mountains in the Himalayas and roaring streams. On rest days, you walk amidst the alpine trees and take in the natural beauty around you.
This trek requires you to use semi-mountaineering techniques and equipment in some parts. Planning an adventure in the Himalayas for this trek will make you relive the tales from regional legends and fables, where there was a saint who could cross this route in one day. The col of the Panpatia serves as the watershed between Badrinath and Kedarnath, i.e., Alaknanda and Mandakini river system.
The trek is a rare chance to experience some of the unique and untouched locations in the Himalayas. If you’re ready to explore the Himalayas in-depth and have an experience of a lifetime, the Panpatia Col Trek is just the adventure for you!

Rest & Acclimatization Day is a crucial part of the Panpatia Col Trek. This is because as you continue to ascend, the air gets thinner and it may cause some challenges that can potentially spoil your trekking experience. Therefore, acclimatization becomes highly necessary to prevent altitude sickness and other related issues.
To acclimate, it is recommended to rest and not engage in any strenuous activities that can affect your physical health. The idea behind it is to give your body ample time to adapt to the change in altitude. During this period, it’s a great opportunity to take in the stunning beauty of the surrounding landscape while allowing your body to rejuvenate.

The reserve day is an integral part of our trekking adventure and will ensure that we get the most out of it while being adequately prepared for the unexpected.

EXCELLENT69 reviews onRishi RaghavAugust 10, 2023.We were a group of 9 to trek to the Kashmir Great Lakes with Advenchar in the first week of August, 2023. Swena was kind enough to accommodate us at the last minute since our trek to Tarsar Marsar was cancelled at the last minute with another company. Being a small group, we were able to start early in the morning, cover the hard sections before the sun came up & reach the campsite well before the evening rains. We were guided by Neil from Advenchar through the trek who is as well versed with the mountains as one can possibly get. The local Kashmiri team fed us to our hearts content. Bajjis, gulab jamoons, soup, kawa, sooji ka halwa was what I relished the most during the evening snacks. Mountain stories from Neil, crystal clear weather during the trek, the camaraderie among the co-trekkers & the ever helpful team made the pretty pretty KGL trek all the more memorable. Only disappointment was the trash at Vishnusar & Ganagabal campsites. Wished we had camped further away at these 2 sites. But the remaining 4 campsites were clean & beautiful. I would definitely do my next trek with Advenchar! Thank you for such a wonderful & beautiful experience!Sheryl -August 6, 2023.It is my first time trekking in India & I chose Advenchar for their positive reviews & small batch sizes. The team also patiently answered the many, many questions I had & were always available. True enough, I had a great & smooth experience with the KGL trek. The guides & helpers were experienced, knowledgeable & helpful. The trek timings were well planned; we often set off earlier & managed to avoid the rain. The food was delicious, varied & planned according to the trek. The tents were of high quality, withstanding the evening rain.
