The expansive meadows are a particular highlight, and the trek takes you to an impressive altitude of 11,750 feet. The Mukta Top Trek starts at the Kuflon Village and winds its way through 28 km of pristine forestland, including Shiladuni, Kuari, Chaithathar, and Mukta Tal campsites. Visitors will enjoy diverse wildlife, as well as dramatic landscapes and unparalleled mountain views. The trek culminates with a long summit around the mighty peaks of the Himalayas, including Bandarpoonch, Gangotri, Kalanag, Nag Tibba, and Jaonli.
It’s a newly opened trek that has quickly become a favourite for adventurers. This trek is special because it is still relatively unknown, making it the perfect hidden gem for trekkers. The trail is well-maintained and provides stunning views of the Himalayas throughout the journey.
In the popular winter treks like Kedarkantha and Bhramatal, you will find many trekkers. However, Mukta Top Trek is completely secluded and provides a calm and refreshing experience. The only sound you will hear here is the chirping of birds. The rest of the trek is filled with silence which makes it very peaceful.

The Mukta Top Trek starts from a charming little village in the Uttarkashi district, Kuflon. The drive from Dehradun to Kuflon is a 155 Km road journey through winding mountain roads.
If you book transport with us, the vehicles will pick you up at Dehradun I.S.B.T at 7 am. We will be travelling via Mussorie and Tehri. You will get amazing views of the Tehri Dam. We will have breakfast and lunch on the way. You can expect to reach Kuflon by evening.
The stay will be in a hotel/guest house and you can see a sensational view of the sunset in the valley. After that, your trek leader will brief you properly about all the details of the trek, and dinner will be served. You can rest for the night and prepare for the big day ahead.

Shiladuni Altitude: 2,042 m (6,700 ft)
The Mukta Top Trek begins at Kuflon village with a gradual trek up through the pine forest. We cross the village and jump across a couple of water streams. After a short trek, the trail becomes steeper for the next 1.5 km as you walk through a bunch of towering pine trees.
The trek is gradual again as you climb for another 2 km. As you make your way, you’ll be passing through a dense forest of rhododendrons, oaks, and maple trees. You might also spot several colourful birds and wildlife along the way.
The trek for the day will come to an end as you approach a stream, which is the first water source in a while. After another 20 minutes of a steep trek, you’ll finally reach the campsite which is situated in a small clearing. This clearing is surrounded by a dense forest on all sides. You can also see Himalayan peaks in the distance.
We’ll be setting up our tents here for the night and have hot lunch amidst the cold weather. After some rest, we’ll explore the nearby forest and return to the campsite for snacks and dinner. Today’s evening is going to be fun as we sit around sharing stories and experiences until we’re ready to sleep.

Chaithathar Altitude: 2,970 m (9,744 ft)
Today’s trek is going to be a little challenging, but it’ll be worth it when you get to see the stunning views of the valley. You’ll be trekking through a dense forest with tall oak and maple trees. The path is quite steep, but the scenery is breathtaking. make sure to take plenty of breaks to rest and enjoy the view!
This trail will take you to amazing viewpoints in the valley below. We’ll be crossing a stream and then hiking steeply uphill until we reach a clearing in the forest. This will be our campsite for the night, Chaithathar. You’ll have dinner here and then get some rest in your tents. In the morning, you’ll be able to see the beautiful sunrise over the valley.

Mukta Tal Altitude: 3,290 m (10,794 ft)
Mukta Tal is a beautiful lake located in the midst of a lush green forest. The trek to reach the lake is gradual and well defined, and it takes around two hours to reach the small clearing that is covered by snow during winter.
As you meander through the picturesque meadows, you will reach your campsite within an hour. Mukta Tal is a small pond that offers stunning views of the Bandarpoonch mountain range.
With an overnight stay at Mukta Tal, you can experience mesmerizing views of Bandarpoonch, Nag Tibba and Black Peak. After setting up your camps, sit back and soak in the stunning vistas on offer from this idyllic location.

Mukta Top Altitude: 3,580 m (11,745 ft.)
Kuari Campsite Altitude: 2,390 m (7,841 ft.)
This is the day you’ve all been waiting for! You’ll be trekking to the Mukta Top, which is the highest point on the trek. The views from the top are simply breathtaking, and you’ll be able to see snow-capped mountains in the distance.
The ascent to the Mukta Top is gradual, and it takes around three hours to reach the summit. On a clear day, you can see beautiful peaks like the Nanda Devi, Kedarnath, Trishul and Chaukhamba. After spending some time at the top, we’ll begin our descent back to the Kuari campsite.
The trek back to the campsite is relatively easy, and it takes around two hours to reach the Kuari campsite. You can relax here for the remainder of the day and enjoy the stunning views of the valley.

Time Taken: 4 hours (Trek) and 8 hours (Drive)
Dehradun Altitude: 640 m (2,100 ft)
After breakfast at the campsite, we’ll begin our descent to the Kuflon campsite. The trek takes around four hours, and it is a well-defined trail through forests. It is full of a diverse variety of flora and fauna and offers magnificent lush or snow-clad scenic views. Here, Himalayan birds, Black bears, Barking Deer, Swamp Deer, and Leopards, get spotted every now and then.
After reaching the base camp at the Kuflon, we’ll have lunch and then begin our journey back to Dehradun. With memories of a lifetime, we’ll reach Dehradun by evening and get dropped at the ISBT for your onward journey.
This trek offers different experiences in different seasons. The best time to do this trek is from September to June. In summer, the meadows are covered in wildflowers, and in winter, you can experience camping in the snow. The temperatures can drop below freezing point in winter, so it is important to be prepared for cold weather conditions. It’s best to avoid this trek in the monsoon season as the trails can be slippery and dangerous.
The Mukta Top trek is an easy trek, and it is suitable for beginners as well. However, in winters, it can be difficult to trek in the snow, so it is important to be prepared for cold weather conditions.
